Tomorrow (le 14 octobre, 2016) marks the 50th anniversary of the Métro de Montréal! To situate our learning within a cultural context, the French 1 class is working on a project called Montréal en métro. They are exploring the various attractions (cultural, scenic and more) that they could potentially experience in a day-long visit to Montréal, by getting around on the métro. To facilitate this study, I have set up a Google site that may be accessed here. Bon voyage!

Voyage à Québec février 2017
This winter, students having successfully completed French 1, 3 or 4 in semester 1 (or French 2 or higher in a previous year) will have the opportunity to visit Quebec City to experience Winter Carnival. This trip is a collaboration between the French programs at Mt. Abraham Union High School and Vergennes Union High School.
An optional meeting will be held at Mt. Abe (room 1093, Ms. Jacobeit’s room) on Thursday September 29th at 7pm. to provide information about the tour, which takes place from February 3 to February 5, 2017. The tour has been planned by Jumpstreet Educational Tours (www.jumpstreet.com), a company specializing in educational tours for students since 1988.
We believe that this tour will provide students with an enriching opportunity to put to use all that they have learned in French class. Students will experience concrete applications of French language, Québécois culture, geography and history.
Detailed information about the tour may also be found here.
If you are unable to attend this meeting but are interested in more information, please email Diana Clayton at dclayton@answu.org or Jori Jacobeit at jjacobeit@anesu.org.

The objectives of the tour are to:
1. Expose students to a new city and give them the opportunity to experience a French-speaking culture firsthand.
2. Provide an authentic opportunity for students to practice communicating in French.
3. Allow students to enjoy a community experience, to gain a sense of independence, and to compromise and adjust to various situations.
Detailed information about the tour may also be found here.

We look forward to an unforgettable Winter Carnival experience!
